History

Believed inhabited since the Bronze Age as part of the ancient city of Amathus, once a major Mediterranean trade hub whose ruins still stand on the coast here. Today it's a low-rise coastal community east of central Limassol, known for beachfront hotels, villas and some of the highest property prices on the island.

Festivals

Amathusia Festival - free open-air festival of traditional and contemporary Cypriot music and dance, held each summer among the ancient Amathus ruins, organised by the Agios Tychonas Community Board.
Easter Sunday & Monday - traditional games held in the village square.
