History

A Byzantine-period settlement here was repeatedly destroyed by earthquakes, wars and Arab raids - the only trace left today is a medieval cistern. Resettled and built up through the 20th century, it became a municipality in 1986 and, at just 370 hectares, is Cyprus's smallest municipality by area - now a dense, mid-rise residential district about 2km north of Limassol's centre.
